TCL Popularity In India Soaring, To Sponsor An IPL Franchise

TCL, one of the most popular television brands in India, is currently celebrating its 4th year anniversary. In order to give back to the consumers, the company had recently announced a sale where it will be offering discounts on select products. While the company is now 39 years old, they entered India only four years ago and growing rapidly since. Additionally, the company has been pushing towards the goal of “Make in India” with its first self-owned panel factory in Tirupathi, India.

The Chinese consumer electronics giant is the world’s second-largest TV maker and among the top five brands in India.

TCL’s growth is also attributed to its LED panel factory in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, aiming to become a global manufacturing hub by the end of 2020. The 2400 crore factory is capable of producing 8 million TV screens panels and 30 million mobile screens annually. The launch of this factory also underlines TCL’s India-first approach, creating and offering affordable smart home products for Indian consumers who are always eyeing for entertainment solutions with cutting-edge technologies.

The Made in India philosophy has also helped the brand cement its position as one of the emerging leaders in the smart TV segment, offering tech-advanced devices at appealing price points.

TCL has recently launched its 8K and 4K QLED television models that boast state-of-the-art features such as Quantum Dot technology, hands-free voice control, Pop-up Camera, IMAX Enhanced, and Dolby Vision &Atmos, among others.

In 2019, TCL sold a million television sets in India, an almost 267 percent year-on-year growth compared to 300,000 units sold the previous year. The company has a significant share of India’s television market and is among the country’s top five brands.

While TCL has a strong presence in Tier 1 and 2 cities, the company is working to expand its presence to Tier 3 and 4 cities and towns.

Not just TV, TCL is even part of one of the most popular sporting events in the country. In the upcoming13th edition of the Indian Premier League, the IPL franchise from Hyderabad, Sunrisers Hyderabad has announced TCL as its official sponsor.  SRH has some of the top names of the world cricket and is considered one of the most consistent teams of the tournament.

The partnership with Sunrisers Hyderabad highlights TCL’s domain leadership in India. The brand activities, in tandem with the team, will help the brand create deeper inroads with customers by tapping into the country’s collective love for the sport. TCL was a team sponsor of Delhi Capitals (previously Delhi Daredevils) in the 2019 edition of the tournament.
