Swiggy, the food-tech company based in India is the largest and the best in the country. There is a lot of competition in this sector in India which is growing by the minute. There is no breathing space as four companies have totally got the market hold and are not loosening it anytime soon. Swiggy ranks number one as all the other companies lack something or the other. Zomato not being a full-fledged food-delivery company lacks a bit in some of the sectors. However, there was no correct measure of who is better in which sector but RedSeer Management Consulting Pvt Ltd has put all the guessers to rest.
The company recently finished a survey which concludes the argument of who is on the top of the food-delivery business. The RedSeer survey team had to consider over 20 parameters to come to a conclusion. The parameters ranged from a trusted brand to value for money. However, all these 20 parameters were grouped into three different parameters.
The first parameter was Most Trusted Brand, here Swiggy won over Zomato with ease. It scored 22 points to Zomato’s 10. The next parameter was Best Value and in this Zomato edged Swiggy by a point. Zomato scored 25 while Swiggy ended up with 24. The final parameter was the Experience parameter which depended from ordering food to canceling it. Here Swiggy scored a whopping 50 points while Zomato was left with 47. The total score of Swiggy reached 96 while Zomato was stuck at 82.
Zomato and Swiggy were very close but the trust the customers have on Swiggy is way more than Zomato. This might have a lot to do with the recent scandal that happened. Zomato landed in trouble because one of their delivery boys was caught eating the food from parcels. The news spread like fire and this must have put Zomato down in the trust factor. RedSeer did the research in all the major cities like Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata. The surveying company surveyed over 900 people and came to this conclusion.
The other two companies, UberEats, and Foodpanda which are the only two companies within touching distance of the two giants were in third and fourth position respectively. There was not a lot of gap between the companies but UberEats ended up with 73 points and Foodpanda, powered by Ola were stuck at 70.
Swiggy, however, is the ultimate winners according to this survey. The company also had a fantastic 2018. It raised a staggering $1.3 billion in funding last year which was led by a South African giant Naspers. The companies have to keep on increasing the capital as it is a field of fine margins.
