Samsung Galaxy Fold is a device which was tipped to make history. It was tipped to become the first ever credible foldable phone in the market. The demo during the launch of the Galaxy S10, was astonishing and the phone was said to hit the stores in April and it was days until the official launch. The phone was, however, sent to the reviewers and everything looked great.
Samsung Galaxy Fold was just a week from making history. It just had to go through all the YouTube reviewers and everything was going right until almost all of them started facing issues with the screen. The hinge of the phone has a screen protector which comes with the phone. Usually, everyone just takes the screen protector off but this was not just a screen protector it was more than that. It was a part of the screen. And when the reviewers tried to take it off, the whole screen went berserk.
There were many reviewers including Marcus Brownlee who did a review after a review to just address this problem. Samsung did come out with a statement saying that the screen protector is not the usual layer one peels off. It also apologized and said that the screens having a problem apart from that will be replaced.
There are problems apart from the screen protector as well. There are reviewers who faced particles traveling through the small hole near the hinge underneath the screen. Michael Fisher tweeted a photo of the same. He said that something grainy found a way to sneak up through the hinge and it is now showing a bulge on the screen.
He tweeted, “Sigh. A little grain of something found its way beneath my Galaxy Fold display. Like the saying goes: ‘not surprised; just disappointed.’ Sending this back to Samsung hoping they figure out a way to seal up that hinge. Silver lining: video tomorrow!”
There are many such problems occurring nowadays and Samsung has to face all of them. The company did mention that the reviewers have already mentioned the vast potential of the device and although the problems also arose along the way. The Galaxy Fold is now officially delayed because of all the problems.
Thanks to reviewers, Samsung just dodged the bullet as the phone could have failed miserably had it reached the customers. That being said, the release date has been delayed until the month of May at least.
The official statement read, “We recently unveiled a completely new mobile category: a smartphone using multiple new technologies and materials to create a display that is flexible enough to fold. We are encouraged by the excitement around the Galaxy Fold.
“While many reviewers shared with us the vast potential they see, some also showed us how the device needs further improvements that could ensure the best possible user experience. To fully evaluate this feedback and run further internal tests, we have decided to delay the release of the Galaxy Fold. We plan to announce the release date in the coming weeks.”
