Redmi, which runs as a separate brand from Xiaomi in China, has launched a new fitness band. The Redmi Band was announced during the Mi Fan Festival 2020 where Xiaomi celebrated its 10th Anniversary with the launch of 22 new products. The fitness tracker features a color display, a heart rate monitor, and a 14-day claimed battery life.
The new Redmi Band looks a lot like the Realme Band and the Honor Band. It features a 1.08-inch color AMOLED touchscreen compared to the 0.95-inch panel on Mi Band 4. It also has a more rectangular design, instead of making use of a rounded pill that we have seen on the Mi Band range. To charge the band, you simply pull off the straps and plug the main unit into a USB-A port to start charging.
The Realme Band was recently launched in India with a budget price label of Rs 1,499. Xiaomi is expected to launch the Redmi fitness band in India to target the Rs 1,500 wearable segment and give a tough competition to the Realme and Honor Band. Let’s take a look at the features of the newly launched fitness tracker.
The smart wearable ships with a 1.08-inch rectangular color display. It offers support for 5 sports modes and an optical heart rate sensor to monitor heart rate. With this fitness band, users will also be able to track their sleep patterns. The Chinese company will be selling the device in four colors, including orange, olive green, blue, and black.
The Redmi Band supports direct USB charging. Xiaomi claims that the fitness band will deliver 14 days of battery life on a single charge. The budget fitness tracker lacks NFC support for contactless payments. But, the same feature is also available in Xiaomi’s Mi Band 4.
Besides, the Mi Band 5 is also expected to launch today. The display is expected to be brighter with better contrast to ensure improved usability under direct sunlight. It is likely to feature a full-color AMOLED panel. Talking about NFC, it also looks like the Global version of Mi Band 5 will also support contactless payments. This likely means that Mi Band 5 will come with support for Google Pay, and other payment services.
