OnePlus now has a lot of devices out there and as promised by the company, support is crucial for all those devices. The Chinese company does not wait for a couple of years to pass before hitting the stop button for the older versions. The company stops the production of the older versions right after launching the new devices. This is a strategy to increase the sales of the newer phones and to afford the production of older and newer devices.
That being said, the company is pretty clear about its aims and is going in the right direction. The other reason for the company stops the production is because the prices of the phones are similar when compared to the previous devices. And if the older versions of the phones are being listed alongside the newer versions, they are creating their own competition. However, this sometimes makes the other people think of OnePlus as a company that abandons their devices. Although that is not the case.
OnePlus 5 and 5T got the Android Pie update a few months ago. This was after the company released three new devices in OnePlus 6, the 6T after that and then the McLaren edition of the 6T which was equally awesome. The phones are going to be supported throughout the next three to four years and this is a good sign from OnePlus. The reason we know this is because OnePlus just provided an update to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T.
OnePlus 3 and 3T get Android 9
OnePlus has just released the Android 9.0.2 update to the OnePlus 3 and 3T. There are still many people out there who use the phone. The people at OnePlus were beta testing the update and had promised to release an official update by the end of 2018. However, the company missed the deadline and are five months late. However, it is here and it is better late than never.
The gaming mode is updated with the new 3.0 version bundled in with the Google Duo support dialer and the super clean Do Not Disturb mode. These are some of the common features that will be rolled out by the company which is quite similar to the OnePlus 5 and 5T updates.
The company was trying to bring the Android 9 based Oxygen OS to the OnePlus 3 and 3T for the past year, however, there were some technical problems and it had to be delayed. The OnePlus 5 and 5T got the update at the start of 2019 which was a month later than they promised, but it was there and it is as smooth as before.
That being said, everyone knows the features of Android 9 but it was the bugs that were keeping the update from being released. It is now released and will be rolled out in an incremental manner from there on. There will be people who will get this update today while some people will get it in a few weeks from now. This is based on the database of OnePlus.
