Motorola Set to Debut in TV Segment

Looking to cash into the upcoming festive season, Motorola is all set to launch its first Android-powered smart TV range in India. The development marks the occasion when the brand makes its entry into the smart TV space. It’s a collaborative initiative between Motorola and Indian e-commerce site Flipkart. With lots of features, the Smart TV starts at Rs 13,999.

The Motorola smart TVs are powered by Android TV 9.0. Powering TVs is a Mali 450 GPU paired with 2.25GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage. The range varies between a 32-inch HDTV to a 65-inch 4K panel. The smart TVs come with Dolby Vision technology and are HDR10 compliant. The panels have a wide viewing angle of 78-degrees. It comes with 30W front-firing speakers that are powered by DTS Tru Surround and Dolby Audio. On the design front, the teaser image posted by Flipkart reveals that Motorola TV will feature thin bezels.

The company is also marketing its technologies to tweak the performance of its TVs. For instance, the TVs come with autotuneX display technology, amphisoundX sound tech and finally blazeX that allows it to connect to a wireless Android game controller. Motorola hasn’t mentioned how this autotuneX and amphisoundX exactly work.

Interestingly, the Motorola TVs come with a gamepad, which will allow users to install and play games on the TV using the Android TV platform and Google Play Store. The bundled gamepad differentiates the TVs, increasing their utility as a gaming device without the need for a dedicated gaming console, or screen mirroring through a smartphone or tablet.

The new TVs feature a front-firing soundbar-style speaker setup, with a 30W rated sound output. The soundbar is placed right below the TV screen in all the size variants. The Motorola Smart TV range is available in various sizes and resolutions, including 32-inch (HD 720p, Rs. 13,999), 43-inch (Full-HD 1080p, Rs. 24,999), 43-inch (Ultra-HD 2160p, Rs 29,999), 50-inch (Ultra-HD 2160p, Rs. 33,999), 55-inch (Ultra-HD 2160p, Rs. 39,999), and 65-inch (Ultra-HD 2160p, Rs. 64,999).

The Lenovo-owned smartphone maker is entering the smart TV market now dominated by Xiaomi. The Chinese smartphone maker started selling televisions in India just over 15 months back. Its success has allowed other companies to explore their entry as well. The launch comes just weeks ahead of the launch of OnePlus TV in India. The smart TVs will be available in the Flipkart Big Billion Days sale from September 29.
