Motorola will launch its flagship smartphone, the Motorola Edge+, in India tomorrow. The company has kept a soft launch due to the ongoing pandemic and the extended lockdown. So, the smartphone will be directly unveiled on Flipkart at 12:00 PM. We already know what Motorola Edge+ offers. All we need to look at is the pricing for India, and what variants Motorola will bring to the country.
To recall, the Lenovo-owned company launched two smartphones in its 2020 flagship Edge series dubbed Motorola Edge and Motorola Edge+ last month. The Edge+ is the company’s top-of-the-line flagship with Snapdragon 865, 108-megapixel camera, curved OLED display, and 5G.
The phone comes with a 6.70-inch touchscreen display and an aspect ratio of 21:9. Motorola Edge+ is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor. It comes with 12GB of RAM. The Motorola Edge+ runs Android 10 and is powered by a 5000mAh non-removable battery. The Motorola Edge+ supports wireless charging, as well as proprietary fast charging.
As far as the cameras are concerned, the Motorola Edge+ on the rear packs a 108-megapixel primary camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a pixel size of 0.8-micron; a second 16-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture and a pixel size of 1.0-micron and a third 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture and a pixel size of 1.0-micron. The rear camera setup has autofocus. It sports a 25-megapixel camera on the front for selfies, with an f/2.0 aperture and a pixel size of 0.9-micron.
Motorola Edge+ based on Android 10 and packs 256GB of inbuilt storage. The Motorola Edge+ is a single SIM (GSM) smartphone that accepts a Nano-SIM card. The Motorola Edge+ measures 161.10 x 71.40 x 9.60mm (height x width x thickness) and weighs 203.00 grams. It was launched in Smoky Sangria and Thunder Grey colors. It features an IP54 rating for dust and water protection.
Connectivity options on the Motorola Edge+ include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/Yes, GPS, Bluetooth v5.10, NFC, USB Type-C, 3G, and 4G (with support for Band 40 used by some LTE networks in India). Sensors on the phone include accelerometer, ambient light sensor, barometer, compass/ magnetometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, and in-display fingerprint sensor. The Motorola Edge+ supports face unlock.
Motorola’s attempt at getting back in in the high-end game gave us the Edge lineup and like many other OEMs, alongside the Edge+, there’s a cheaper alternative to the flagship, which aims to cut a few bangs and whistles to keep the price palpable. The aim, as always is to get the same smartphone experience at a fraction of the price.
