The battle of smartphones is going on for a long time. Which smartphone is better than which one? Is the longest serving question. We are at a similar junction right now. Huawei and Redmi have a phone in a similar category. Huawei just launched its phone which goes by the name of Huawei Y9. Redmi already has a phone with the name Note 6 Pro. Now the reason these two phones can be compared is that of their price.
India is a price sensitive country and Redmi have acknowledged that thing pretty well. Huawei, however, is struggling, it only has less than one percent of the market share while Xiaomi which previously owned Redmi is the largest smartphone seller in India. That said, Huawei’s newest entry might change things. Y9 is stacked with features and the price is very aggressive as well. To compare we will first look at the newest entry. The price range for both the phones is around INR 14,000 to INR 16,000.
Huawei Y9 comes with a unique tag. It is the first Y series smartphone of Huawei that will be launched in India. It was launched today in New Delhi. The first look at the smartphone absolutely blows your mind. It has a stupendous 3D back and which also has a fingerprint sensor. It rocks a 6.5-inch FHD+ display. The resolution of the screen is 1080×2340 pixels. The display comes with a notch and is called a FullView display. The notch has two selfie cameras and the total camera set up is known as a quad camera. It has a dual camera on the front and the back. The rear camera is 13MP and a 2MP secondary sensor while the front camera is 16MP and a 2MP selfie configuration.
Unlike any other smartphone, Huawei runs on a Kirin 710 chipset. It has 4 GB of RAM and a 64 GB of storage. Given its huge display, the battery backup needed was also huge and Huawei has provided a 4000mA battery. The EMUI backed Android 9 will be inbuilt in the phone. The phone will be sold on Amazon.in exclusively from 15th January. The price of this phone is INR 15,990 and customers will get Boat Bluetooth headphones in the box. While the higher variant with 6GB RAM and 128 GB ROM will be priced at INR 20,000.
Let us now take a look at Redmi Note 6 Pro. It is a phone which is already a winner in the market and faced no competition until Y9’s arrival. Note 6 Pro has a similar configuration to that of Huawei Y9. However, there are some downsides to it as its INR 15,900 model comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage but it is expandable up to 256 GB. Apart from this, the Note 6 Pro has a similar display of 6.26 inches FHD+ with a similar number of pixels which is 1080×2280.
To power the display and the phone it rocks a 4000mAh battery. The display is notched and has two cameras on both sides just like a standard smartphone. The rear camera is 20MP+2MP rear and 12MP+5MP front camera. Apart from this, the phone will come with Android Oreo 8.1 which is a bummer. However, Redmi will update the software to the latest version of Android.
These phones are the real deal for the midrange buyers. However, Huawei wins the battle on the software and the hardware side while Redmi has the camera which backs its cause. The real winner here is the customer as there are two amazing phones to buy in the same price range offering almost similar specifications.
