Color TV data released in the third quarter, China’s Hisense Laser TV causes a sensation in the market

Although the color TV market was generally sluggish in the first three quarters, the laser television as a representative of the large-screen TV exploded, bringing a new atmosphere to the segment. According to the summary data of the color TV market released by China Market Monitor, the overall retail volume of the color TV segment decreased by 0.88% in the first three quarters from a year earlier, and the retail sales dropped by 10.55% from the year earlier, but the large-screen TVs, represented by 65/75/80-inch, all saw big growth and the sales volume of laser TVs increased more than four-fold. Hisense has become a leading brand leading the growth of the large-screen market.

Based on the data of China Market Monitor, in the first three quarters of this year, the sales volume of Hisense laser TVs soared 434.41% from the same period of last year, and the market share of 80-inch-and-larger TVs reached 55.77 %,; the retail volume of 65-inch ULED TVs grew by 47.34% year-on-year, and Hisense TV’s share of retail sales reached 19.02 percent, surpassing the second place of 4.24%,, further expanding its advantage.

Hisense, the official sponsor of the 2018 World Cup, launched a series of World Cup’s designated products in June and July, including U7 TV with automatic Sports Mode, U9 TV powered with 1000 Zone extra image TV technology, and 80-inch 4K laser TV L5, bringing unprecedented viewing experience to the global fans and driving the rapid growth of the large- screen segment. In the two months, Hisense’s share of retail sales was more than 20 percent.

On the back of the World Cup effect, in the first three quarters of this year, Hisense has seen double-digit growth in key markets such as North America, Europe, South Africa and Australia, and its overseas brand sales volume increased by 27.5% over the same period last year.

Since launching the 100-inch ultra-short-focus laser TV in 2014, Hisense has been pushing the updates and upgrades of laser display technology and has detonated the laser TV market after releasing the 80-inch laser TV 80L5 within 20,000 yuan in May this year. The product has been ranked in the top ten of the best-selling products for 10 weeks during the 15 weeks of its launch. The hot sale of 80L5 has changed the market structure of big-screen TV, becoming the first choice for the current big-screen market.

China Market Monitor predicts that with the continued popularity of the laser TV market, more brands will join the laser TV segment. It is expected that the growth rate of large-screen TVs of 80 inches and larger will reach more than three times next year.
