Yes, you read that right! Apple has already filed for a patent in the USPA for a technology that allows them to add lights to the apple logo itself. Although this is going to be really interesting, it is not new in any way. The first of these was seen for the longest time on the apple MacBooks with the illuminated logos on the hood until the 2018 and newer models. Having said that, this kind of illuminated logo was unheard of in smartphones.
We are living in a time when the handy smartphone is getting slimmer and slimmer by the day. The smartphone manufacturers are trying to get their devices as thin as possible without losing the durability and aesthetics as well. This is contradictory to the patent that Apple has files that might make the device a little bulkier. However, this is Apple’s trick up its sleeve. According to reports and also past experience the newer devices, if they have the illuminated iPhone logos will not be any bulkier at all.
There have been numerous instances especially on Youtube where people have demonstrated the use of an LED strip or even a completely illuminated third party-made apple logos on the back of various iPhone models just to prove the point that it can be done. Now, the point is that if these tech enthusiasts can create such a thing, then it will be very easy for Apple itself to create this and in a better way through its OEMs.
The current issue with almost all Apple devices is that they are lacking innovation. They have a similar design from three years ago and the specifications are also only a tiny bit better than the last years’ models. In a time, when the smartphone manufacturers are literally shooting through the roof in terms of product design and performance as well, Apple seems to be reaping the benefits of its reputation in the market.
This is high time that Apple brought some significant new innovations to its product lineup. Some reliable leaks on the internet suggest that there are going to be major changes to the Apple iPhone lineup next year. The huge notch on the display will most likely be gone finally after 3 years. In-display fingerprint might be a possibility in the next year’s models. Apple has already improved its camera and processor, so these might not be radically improved next year but there is always a chance. However, there are smaller things that add up to the total consumer experience that allows for the final sales. Apple as a brand has been able to deliver that very well and that is the reason behind the brand’s massive success and becoming the first American company to touch the trillion-dollar market capitalization mark.
The illuminated Apple logo on the back of iPhones might not seem very significant but will surely have a major impact on the devices’ usability, looks and user experience. For instance, the light emitted through the logo can be used as a camera flash as well as a torch. Apple is already looking forward to using the logo as a notification light too. Moreover, it will be a very flashy way for the users to show off their expensive Apple devices.
