Acer to exploit the ever-growing gaming community in India

Indian gaming circuit is slowly and steadily gaining a lot of attention. The background of Indian students and teenagers alike is a lot different than other countries. Gaming in Indian culture is not considered as a career option but it is changing with time. There are a lot of people who are looking at this as a profession as there are opportunities to grab. Previously, that was not the case as there were not many tournaments that happened in India to provide a platform for gamers.

Nowadays, there are a lot of e-sports companies which represent gaming teams from all over the world. There are some Indian e-sports companies as well. Such developments are crucial to the development of the gaming circuit in India. Games like PUBG, Call of Duty, Battleground, DOTA, FIFA, and PES are very popular among Indian gamers and the companies are looking to represent teams playing these very games.

According to KPMG and Google’s joint report, the online gaming market is assured growth. It is going to reach a stunning $1 billion by 2021. It currently sits pretty at $290 million and is only going upward according to KPMG and Google. The number of gamers in India is also going to rise by a huge margin. In 2016, there were around 160 million gamers in India and by 2019 there are supposed to be 310 million gamers.

That said, this opens up business opportunities for Personal Computer makers. Acer is one such brand which has a line focused totally on gaming PCs. India’s traditional PC market has grown by 20.2% from the last quarter. There were around 2.71 million units shipped to India according to an IDC report. Acer is one of the companies which has managed to profit from their gaming series laptops which go by the name of Predator.

The Asia Pacific region showed a growth of 2.5 times and India’s revenue growth tripled for Acer. The Taiwanese company is looking to launch its sub-brand in the name of Predator in India. It has already sold 48000 gaming units in India as they were offered online at a very attractive price. They also sold 2.8 lakh Personal Computers in 2018 so far and were at the fourth position in that race sharing 12.1% of the market.

That said, gaming is still winning over the Indian people. It has not managed to fully impress the Indian minds and it will only happen with time. There are not many people who are even aware of such a profession as it has just started to find its feet here. It will be interesting to see as to how the gaming circuit in India takes over the world as there is potential and there are people looking to exploit it.
