Fashion e-commerce giants Myntra-Jabong has appointed former YouTube executive Harish Narayanan as its head of marketing.
In this role, Harish will lead the company’s overall marketing function with a focus on driving growth and consumer engagement and report to Myntra-Jabong head Amar Nagaram. Narayanan will be taking over from the current head of revenue & marketing Mithun Sundar who is now supposed to focus on the company’s fashion strategy, apart from continuing to lead its revenue function. Harish is IIM Lucknow alumnus and headed B2B marketing for YouTube Asia-Pacific for over 2.5 years. This announcement came two weeks later, after Judith McKenna, president, and chief executive officer of Walmart International, came to India to check out operations of Myntra Jabong.
The fashion website is also planning to expand its business and marketing and will be hiring a lot of employees it is learned. According to sources, more than 1,500 people could be hired over the next couple of months under various jobs. The company plans to get into a series of deals with various international brands to expand and pace its growth. In the next set of growth plans, the company is also planning to increase its offline marketing and business by managing offline stores. “While these plans are still being chalked out, it is possible that Myntra will manage more brand stores in the future. That sort of outreach might happen soon,” added a source. The plan has been given a green light from the Walmart top management, who are determined for the growth of Myntra and Jabong.
